ABOUT

If art is prayer, no amount of [medium] is safe.

I knew there was something to being an art supply nerd.

Over the last few years I have been compelled to sketch all over any post-it note, receipt, or notebook that happened across my desk. From those sketches has emerged a collection of items that celebrate the sacred. After several years of ongoing sketching, I have finally begun the process of pulling these things down from the clouds and into physical reality. I hope these small tokens can add to your homes and lives. Whether on holy days or regular old days, they may serve as a reminder of what we want every day to feel like, alive with importance, honesty, joy, and service to others.

I have a bachelor's degree in Human Development, and a masters of Interior Architecture & Design; I am trained in humans and human spaces. What I have learned from both is that we all intersect at spirit and space -- where the beauty is.

I live outside of Portland, OR on a rounded-up half-acre with my husband, Alex, our two boys, Jasper, 10, and Declan, 6, an assortment of half-completed projects, a handful of chickens whose names you must learn by visiting, and our newest addition, Luca the Goberian.

At Prayer in the Temple

I rejoice to hear that thou takest pains with thine art, for in this wonderful new age, art is worship. The more thou strivest to perfect it, the closer wilt thou come to God. What bestowal could be greater than this, that one’s art should be even as the act of worshipping the Lord? That is to say, when thy fingers grasp the paint brush, it is as if thou wert at prayer in the Temple.  ― 'Abdu'l-Bahá, Tablet from the Persian
